DIY Overflow caused an overflow!

Postby brianinokc on 08 Mar 2010, 8:09 pm

After running for almost a year and gaining my trust, my DIY overflow for some unknown reason lost siphon today and pumped my sump dry by over filling the tank :o

I have noticed that when doing water changes, for some reason it loses siphon if i remove too much water too quickly, but if the power goes out, when it comes back on it runs fine.. very strange..

I plan to either modify this one or make a new one that will pull water from deeper in the tank to prevent air from entering the overflow - this should cure the siphon loss problem..

Any other ideas?
